More Painting

I have one more painting to add to the collection of stuff I painted based on photos friends have uploaded to facebook.

This one is of Port Chevalier, Auckland New Zealand.  The photo is, again, by variety performer, musician and pretty great photographer, Kim Potter.

I don’t really like painting landscapes all that much, but if I can find something to treat like a character, I’m happy.  These trees have a lot of character.

And now I must pack away the paints and easel and move to Toronto.  Here’s hoping they come back out again when I settle on the other side.

Painting

I’ve had a little time off between one job ending and a move back to Toronto to start new work.
This time has been painting time.

I always fancied myself a cubits and some of my past paintings have leaned in that direction, but I’m trying to just let stuff come out the way it wants to come out, with no expectations.  It’s not nearly as cubist as I’d hoped it would be, but it feels right anyway.  At least for now.  I’m basing all my paintings right now on photos friends have uploaded to facebook that have caught my eye.

Here’s what I’ve done so far, along with the photos they’re based on:
