Last year I was stuck on dead sparrows as a subject (a few more here). Dead birds served me well. They expressed whatever it was I needed to express (still not entirely sure what that was) … until my cat got a hold of the model and I was forced to move on.
When I did, I returned to an old love that creeps up on me every few years. I don’t know what it is about old, wooden chairs, but I feel them, like people. They are characters.
Here is my collection of chairs, so far.
And the term “study” sounds so cliche. I prefer to think of this as a “flight” of chairs. All wooden chairs, but a in a variety of flavors, with different undertones and aftertastes.
